V4U Vaisakhi Mela celebrated in Surrey

Surrey- The V4U Vaisakhi Mela celebrated on Saturday April 01 2023 was a phenomenal success. It was a community celebration organized with a lot of dedication and hard work by V4U Entertainment Association. Dhot Group was the title sponsor of the Vaisakhi Mela.

That evening, as beautiful guests decked to the hilt in traditional Indian festive wear made their way up the grand staircase of the Dhaliwal Banquet Hall, a spectacular sight awaited them. The banquet hall had been transformed into a festive Indian Fair with a distinct Punjabi flavour. Some famous local personalities greeted and welcomed guests into the party. One end of the hall was dedicated to a myriad of colorful stalls displaying jewelry, garments and other wares.  A beautiful photo booth lit up with flowers, decorations and accessories as well as a 360 video booth was set up at the other end.

Cultural entertainment was led by famous singers. Local artists performed traditional Punjabi folk dances & gidha . Over 850 guests attended the party and danced the night away to the beats of the Punjabi Dhol. The mouthwatering Raj Kachori, paired with tangy sauces and accompanying sides made for a royal appetizer and the dinner served later also consisted of delectable Indian dishes .

Another unique aspect of this celebration of the Harvest festival of Vaisakhi was the amount of community support received by the V4U organizers. 24 local societies supported the event as community partners and in addition numerous local businesses provided some sponsorship for the various expenses. Mr Vikas Gautam founder of V4U said, “We have invited various diverse communities to come together in celebration in the true spirit of this traditional festival. It was a multicultural celebration and attendees enjoyed the opportunity for social networking too”. Dignitaries such as MP Sukh Dhaliwal and the Cultural Secretary from the Indian Consulate in Vancouver were in attendance at the event.
