Surrey-Construction has begun on a new pedestrian bridge as part of Stage Two of the Terwillegar Drive Expansion project. The 142 Street Pedestrian/Cyclist bridge will improve access and connectivity for walking, cycling, and rolling in southwest Edmonton and beyond.
The bridge, located across Whitemud Drive near 142 Street, will link the Brookside and Brookview neighbourhoods to existing active transportation routes. This includes the newly completed shared pathway built during Stage One of the expansion project.
“We are thrilled to announce the start of construction on the new 142 Street Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge. Integrating active transportation modes has been a key focus of the Terwillegar Drive Expansion project and this long-awaited link will provide a safe connection for southwest residents,” said Councillor Tim Cartmell, “It’s exciting to see it all come together, and we extend our gratitude to the Alberta government for their support in making this happen.”
