ਸੂਤਰਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਲਗਪਗ 5200 ਪਾਇਲਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੜਤਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਟਾਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅਗਰ ਪਾਇਲਟ 72 ਘੰਟੇ ਦੀ ਹੜਤਾਲ ਦਾ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਏਅਰਲਾਈਨ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਫਲਾਈਟਾਂ ਮੁਲਤਵੀ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰੇਗੀ। ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੈਜੀਡੈਂਟ ਵਲੋਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਾਇਲਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਤੇ ਪੁੱਜਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਪਰ ਜੇ ਪਾਇਲਟ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ 72 ਘੰਟੇ ਦੀ ਹੜਤਾਲ ਦਾ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ 18 ਸਤੰਬਰ ਤੱਕ ਏਅਰ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਠੱਪ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
Air Canada is working on plans to start suspending operations ahead of a looming pilot strike, the carrier said in a statement Monday morning. Flight cancellations could start as early as Friday.
Unless a settlement is reached by Sunday, either Air Canada or the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), which represents 5,200 Air Canada pilots, could issue a 72-hour lockout or strike notice.
Air Canada president and CEO Michael Rousseau said in a statement that while there was still time to reach an agreement with the pilots, “Canadians have recently seen the chaos abrupt airline shutdowns cause for travellers, which obliges us to do everything we can to protect our customers from an increasingly likely work stoppage.”
