Rustad announces B.C. Conservatives shadow cabinet

Shadow cabinet is ‘committed to restoring prosperity, public safety, and affordability’: Rustad 

Victoria-Rustad unveiled his shadow cabinet Wednesday (Nov. 20), describing it as a “diverse and experience group, committed to restoring prosperity, public safety, and affordability for every British Columbian,” the Conservative caucus said in the news release.

“With experts in every field, we are focused on delivering real solutions for the challenges our province faces.”

Abbotsford South MLA Bruce Banman, who was the first to join the B.C. Conservatives with Rustad, was named as the party whip.

In the two other leadership positions, Chilliwack-Cultus Lake MLA Aaliya Warbus is the house leader and Prince George-North Cariboo MLA Sheldon Clare is the deputy whip. 

All but two of the B.C. Conservative MLAs were given portfolios. Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Lorne Doerkson and Langley-Willowbrook MLA Jody Toor were not named along with portfolios in the news release. 

Rustad’s shadow cabinet includes the following portfolios:

  • Fraser Nicola MLA Tony Luck has the municipal affairs and local government portfolios
  • Bulkley Valley-Stikine MLA Sharon Hartwell with the rural communities and rural development portfolios
  • Delta South MLA Ian Patonhas the agriculture, fisheries and agricultural land commission portfolios
  • Peace River North MLA Jordan Kealy with the agriculture expansion and food security portfolios
  • Richmond Queensborough MLA Steve Kooner has the attorney general portfolio
  • Vancouver-Quilchena MLA Dallas Brodie has the justice reform portfolio, a part of the attorney general portfolio
  • Penticton-Summerland MLA Amelia Boultbee has the children and family development portfolio
  • Chilliwack North MLA Heather Maahs has the Indigenous self-government in child and family services portfolio, which is within the children and family development portfolio
  • Prince Goerge-Valemount MLA Rosalyn Bird with the citizens’ services portfolio
  • West Vancouver-Capilano MLA Lynne Block has the education portfolio
  • Surrey North MLA Mandeep Dhaliwal has the parental rights and sports portfolio
  • Abbotsford-Mission MLA Reanne Gasper has the child care, children and youth with support needs portfolio
  • Richmond Centre MLA Hon Chan has the climate solutions and climate readiness portfolios
  • Peace River South MLA Larry Neufeld has the natural gas and LNG portfolios
  • Salmon Arm-Shuswap MLA David Williams has the BC Hydro and electricity self-sufficiency portfolios
  • West Kelowna-Peachland MLA Macklin McCall has the emergency management portfolio
  • Surrey-White Rock MLA Trevor Halford has the environment and parks portfolio
  • Kamloops Centre MLA Peter Milobar has the finance portfolio
