SURREY BOARD OF TRADE PLEASED WITH THE NEW SECURING SMALL BUSINESS REBATE PROGRAM

Surrey- The BC Government has announced a $10.5 million dollar fund that small businesses will be able to access to support increased costs due to crime and vandalism, and to prevent further crime.

“Businesses have faced immense challenges over the past few years,” said Jasroop Gosal, Policy & Research Manager of the Surrey Board of Trade. “This fund will help small businesses that have been dealing with the expenses of property damage resulting from vandalism and crime. We look forward to helping our members access these funds and working with the Province to ensure the fund is distributed efficiently.”

The Provincial Government is working with the Federal Government to address the root of the issue, which is mental health, addiction, and repeat offenders.

The fund will be made available in the fall of 2023 on an application basis and is retroactive to January 1, 2023.

$2,000 is available per business for the cost of repairs due to vandalism.

$1,000 is available for businesses for vandalism prevention.
