SURREY—BC NDP MLA Jagrup Brar recently held his annual “Summer Fair” on July 13 at Francis Park in Surrey. The event attracted approximately 1,000 enthusiastic community members, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

The fair brought together leaders from major organizations and representatives from diverse ethnic communities. The Consul General of India in Vancouver and spouse attended the event, along with former BC NDP MLAs Jinny Sims and Mike Starchuk, who showed their support for this multicultural community gathering.

The event attracted approximately 1,000 participants with  a variety of attractions, including a bouncy castle, slushie stands, free pizza, samosas, pakoras, tikkis, lemonade, and ice cream. There were also fun activities such as a spin wheel game, five gift basket raffles, and numerous giveaways and souvenirs. A special highlight was an award ceremony hosted by MLA Brar to recognize outstanding community leaders from various backgrounds for their contributions to society.

MLA Jagrup Brar stated that this annual community event aims to foster public engagement, support local businesses, and provide a space for families to come together and meet their local elected representatives. He emphasized, “This is an event for everyone. Regardless of your background, all residents are welcome to join us in enjoying the summer and strengthening our community bonds.”
