 Surrey, BC – The Guru Nanak Institute of Global Studies successfully hosted its fourth Annual International Sikh Research Summit at Surrey City Hall on September 20th and 21st. The two-day event centered around the theme “Honouring the Past and Empowering the Future.”

Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills and Surrey Newton MLA, Jessie Sunner, attended the summit and delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of preserving Sikh heritage while fostering opportunities for future generations.

The conference brought together a diverse group of scholars, researchers, community leaders, and students dedicated to advancing research in Sikh studies, culture, and history. Through panel discussions, presentations, and collaborative dialogue, the summit highlighted significant contributions to the academic understanding of Sikhism and its role in society.

MLA Sunner expressed her support for ongoing research and community engagement efforts, underscoring the value of events like the International Sikh Research Summit in strengthening cultural knowledge and empowering the community.
